BIOGRAPHY

Jon Hack CMC, MCIP, RPP, PLE

Director, Sierra Planning and Management

Profile:
I graduated from the University of Manchester in Urban Planning in 1989 and completed a Master of Arts in Economic Geography at the University of Toronto in 1992. Working as a Development Consultant in the UK until a permanent move to Canada in 1995, I started my career in Ontario with Clayton Research (1995-1997, now part of Altus Group), followed by a long tenure with IBI Group in its Toronto Real Estate and Planning practice from 1997 to 2010.

Established in 2010, Sierra Planning and Management represents the philosophy that I promoted working in a creative, multi-disciplinary environment: that there is real value in collaboration, cross-discipline exchange of ideas and approaches, and that imagination and detail, concepts and costs, vision and viability do not have to be viewed as acting in opposition, but can reinforce one another – strengthening ideas and creating new ones.

For this reason, Sierra Planning and Management has always sought to blend the creative process with the rigour imposed by listening to others, evidence-based reporting, and market-driven solutions to arrive at the point of maximum value: creative solutions that are within reach, and communication that is inclusive.

My work nationally in Canada and in the US is complimented by assignments in the Middle East, Europe, and the UK over the years. Many of our projects are in the public eye and with two decades of experience appearing before the public, municipal leaders and at times in an advocacy role as an expert witness at hearings, we can help take your project further, anticipate risks, and achieve implementation. And that’s not just crossing the finish line but taking care of clients and projects well beyond.
