Foreign and Domestic Direct Investment Capacity Building The Partnership of the Township of Val Rita-Harty, The Township of Opasatika, The Val Rita-Harty Economic Community Development Corporation and The Opasatika Regional Economic Development Team, 2011 Sierra Planning and Management was retained to undertake an economic development strategy for the partner municipalities to generate potential for foreign direct investment to this region of Northern Ontario.

  • Development of up to date Business and Community Profile;
  • Marketing of Competetive Advantages of the Region;
  • Asset identification including development sites;
  • Dedicated economic development website portals and full content;
  • Identification of target growth sectors and generation of investment leads; and
  • Preparation of training manuals and recommendations for creating permanent economic development office, mandate and funding plans.

Important to the strategy was the development of a regional argument in favour of the location for new investment capital in Northern Ontario. As a result, the strategy had an emphasis on regional assets, regional marketing and co-ordination of funding and infrastructure resources and planning
